SAN JOSE -- Even 25-year-old running back Deontae Cooper, beginning his seventh year of college football but his first at San Jose State, was only six months old the last time the Spartans won a conference championship.
It was way back in 1991, when SJSU shared the Big West Conference title with Fresno State.Since then, the Spartans have changed conferences twice and coaches seven times but have not won another title."The Mountain West championship -- everybody on this team is very confident we can do that," senior quarterback Kenny Potter said. "We have the talent.""That's our one goal," echoed senior linebacker Christian Tago.
