Before every San Jose State home game this year, punter Michael Carrizosa walked into Spartan Stadium looking for Mom.
Amy Rodriguez never failed her son. The blond-haired woman with a radiant smile could always be found in the same spot no matter how sick she felt from chemotherapy treatments. "Seeing her was the moment that I needed to get me going," said Carrizosa, a sophomore All-America from Salinas.The feeling has been mutual for Rodriguez, who gave birth to her first child at age 19. They've practically grown up together, celebrating joyous occasions and overcoming emotional ones.
