Ervin powers San Jose State past New Mexico

SAN JOSE -- Tyler Ervin gave San Jose State's bowl hopes a big boost Saturday evening in leading the Spartans to a 31-21 win over New Mexico at Spartan Stadium.

Ervin rushed for 263 yards, scored a touchdown and reached a number of milestones as the Spartans (4-4, 3-2 Mountain West Conference) garnered a much-needed victory. SJSU now needs to win just two games to become bowl-eligible for the first time since Ron Caragher became the Spartans' head coach. It won't be easy. San Jose State's November slate includes home dates against Brigham Young and Boise State and tough road games at Nevada and Hawaii.
