LAS VEGAS -- In a wild finish Saturday night, San Jose State survived a scare against UNLV, escaping with a 33-27 overtime victory.
After Spartans defensive end Isaiah Irving blocked UNLV's Nicolai Bornand's 43-yard field-goal attempt on the first overtime series, SJSU quickly moved through the Rebels on its first drive in the extra period, culminating with Tyler Ervin's two-yard touchdown run.San Jose State improved to 3-3 overall and 2-1 in Mountain West play, while the Rebels dropped to 2-4 and 1-1 in league games. The win was San Jose's sixth straight against the Rebels, while the loss snapped UNLV's five-year win streak in conference home openers.
