SAN JOSE -- After San Jose State's football team fell short of reaching eligibility for a bowl game for the third straight season on Friday, Spartans athletic director Gene Bleymaier said coach Ron Caragher's job is safe.
"There's no question about his status," Caragher said. "Ron's our coach, and he'll be our coach going forward."The Spartans' 40-23 home loss to Boise State ended their season at 5-7 overall -- one victory shy of the six they needed to gain bowl eligibility. SJSU has not played in a bowl game since 2012, its final season under former coach Mike MacIntyre.
