With Sharks recalling Labanc, will Hertl move to center?

PHILADELPHIA — Forward Kevin Labanc and defenseman Tim Heed’s stay in the American Hockey League didn’t last long. Neither did defenseman Joakim Ryan’s stay in the NHL with the Sharks.

Labanc and Heed were both recalled on Friday and center Ryan Carpenter and Ryan were loaned to the Barracuda as the Sharks got set for Saturday’s matinee against the Philadelphia Flyers.

Labanc, 21, and Heed, 26, were reassigned to the AHL before the Sharks left on Monday for their four-game road trip.

With Carpenter going back to the AHL, the transaction might be an indication the Sharks are ready to move Tomas Hertl back to center after he played the last six games as the left wing on the team’s top line with Joe Thornton and Joe Pavelski.
