With any recent acquisition, Sharks have valued character

SAN JOSE — Most of the players the Sharks have brought in — either through trade or free agency — since the 2015 offseason have had at least one of two off-ice characteristics.

Either they figured to assimilate quickly into the Sharks’ culture or there was a history between the player and a member of the team’s coaching staff. Sometimes the player has possessed both.

In the unlikely event Sharks general manager Doug Wilson acquires multiple players prior to the NHL’s trade deadline on Wednesday at noon Pacific time, such attributes would again be critical to a team that has Stanley Cup aspirations.
