Just two San Jose Sharks teams in franchise history have gone 10 or more consecutive games without scoring a power play goal.
Strangely enough, both are Peter DeBoer squads. From February 10, 2018 to March 4, 2018, San Jose went 12 straight games without a power play goal. And this year, from November 19, 2019 to December 7, 2019, the Sharks went 10 in a row without a power play goal.
This cold streak was finally snapped yesterday by Kevin Labanc in a 5-1 loss to the Florida Panthers.
It’s always easy to blame the assistant coach in charge of the power play — in this case, Steve Spott — but it’s worth noting that San Jose has the league’s seventh-best power play under Spott.
