SAN JOSE — Joe Thornton took a major step in his recovery from right-knee surgery as the Sharks traveled through Western Canada on a three game road trip last week.
Head coach Pete DeBoer said that Thornton skated for the first time since he injured his right medial collateral ligament on Jan. 23 while the team was in Canada racking up a 3-0 record and then the 38-year old took some strides on the ice after the team’s morning practice Tuesday.
“He has been on the ice. Real preliminary,” the Sharks coach said. “First of a lot of steps to go.
