LOS ANGELES — The NHL slapped Timo Meier with the “diver” label, again, a tag the Sharks forward is taking issue with.
Meier received a $2,000 fine for embellishment on Wednesday, a penalty he received for earning his second diving citation from the NHL this season. The Sharks forward received a warning from the NHL last month after he took an apparent dive in a game against the Winnipeg Jets on Feb. 5. Meier caught the league’s eye again on Saturday when he went down to the ice after making minimal contact with Nashville Predators defenseman Roman Josi while chasing after the puck.
