Things to know: Sharks’ Joe Thornton endorses Brent Burns’ move to forward

SAN JOSE — Without making a deal for Rick Nash, Evander Kane or Max Pacioretty, the Sharks are adding a player that head coach Pete DeBoer considers to be a “top-three forward” to their No. 1 line.

After returning to forwards in the third period of Tuesday’s 2-1 loss to the Arizona Coyotes, Brent Burns is expected to skate on the Sharks top line with Joe Pavelski and Timo Meier when the team takes on the Vancouver Canucks (22-29-6) at SAP Center Tuesday.

DeBoer said the move is being endorsed by a key figure within the Sharks organization.
