EDMONTON, Alberta — Todd McLellan will likely get another crack at leading the Edmonton Oilers back to glory.
Although the Oilers (30-35-4) find themselves 18 points out of a playoff spot heading into Wednesday’s showdown with the Sharks (37-23-9) in Edmonton, the general feeling in oil country is that the team has experienced too much turnover behind the bench over the last 10 years to ax McLellan after just three seasons.
In the aftermath of Craig MacTavish’s eight-year run as head coach that ended in 2009, the Oilers cycled through five coaches in seven years before they hired McLellan in 2015.
