Takeaways: there isn’t an easy solution to Sharks’ Paul Martin quagmire

SAN JOSE — Borrowing a catch phrase from head coach Pete DeBoer, the Sharks probably deserved better in Game 3.

They controlled most of the game’s first 40 minutes only to go into the second intermission trailing 3-1 after the Vegas Golden Knights scored three times in less than five minutes, capitalizing on a pair of power plays. After erasing their second two-goal deficit of the series in the third, they committed a pair of penalties in overtime, losing the momentum, and eventually, the game on William Karlsson’s third goal in three games.

Regardless, DeBoer remains confident that if the Sharks continue to put that type of game on the ice for the remainder of the series, his team will be in a good position to erase the Knights 2-1 lead and advance into the Western Conference Final.
