SAN JOSE — Any time you head down to the hockey barn there’s a chance you could see something new.
The cliché proved true at SAP Center Thursday night as Winnipeg Jets forward Nik Ehlers recorded his fourth career hat trick without actually shooting the puck into the net on his third goal. The officials awarded Ehlers with a goal at the 19-minute mark of the third period after he got hauled down by Joe Pavelski with an open look at an empty net.
Ehlers also scored the game-winning goal just 2:07 before he completed the hat trick.
