SAN JOSE — The Washington Capitals picked an inappropriate time to start playing like the Stanley Cup champions again.
After a month of sub-.500 hockey, the Capitals broke loose against the Sharks at SAP Center on Thursday, snapping a pair of impressive winning streaks. The Sharks six-game winning streak ended with a loss to the very team they beat back on Jan. 22 to get the party started. The Capitals also derailed a six-game home winning streak that dates back Dec. 27, making their payback for the Sharks 7-6 win in the nation’s capital last month even sweeter.
