Takeaways: Sharks are running out of time as playoffs loom

SAN JOSE — The list of milestones, records and achievements reached in Sharks territory this season is extensive.

One thousand franchise wins. Joe Thornton’s 1,500th game. A team record 272 goals scored. On Thursday, the Sharks hit another rare mark, one they’d prefer to erase from the books.

With their seventh straight loss, the Sharks matched the franchise’s longest losing streak in six years.

When the Sharks lost seven in a row from Feb. 2 to Feb. 15, 2013, it came in first month of a lockout-shortened season. Now, they’re reeling with just five games left on the schedule and the Stanley Cup playoffs set to kick off in less than two weeks.
