SAN JOSE — It was the most lopsided home opening loss in Sharks franchise history.
Sure felt like it, too.
For the second straight game, the Sharks fell behind by two goals in the first period and never recovered in what became an ugly 5-1 defeat at the hands of the Vegas Golden Knights at SAP Center.
“Top to bottom, just not NHL level tonight,” Sharks captain Logan Couture said. “Pretty disappointing. Veterans, myself, all the way through the lineup, just not close to NHL level. Disappointing to do it in our home opener in front of our very, very good fans.
