LOS ANGELES — Kevin Labanc punched in a perfect seam pass from Logan Couture in overtime to clinch the first of what the Sharks are hoping will be many wins en route to the franchise’s first Stanley Cup this season.
As they knocked off the Los Angeles Kings (0-0-1), the Sharks (1-1) cleaned up some of the issues that plagued them in Wednesday’s opening night loss to the Anaheim Ducks. The penalty kill went 5 for 5 after coughing up two goals in the opener. The power play produced a couple dangerous looks late in the game and Martin Jones secured the win by making a few key saves in the third period after surrendering a soft goal in the second where he failed to seal off the left post.
