COLUMBUS, Ohio — Pete DeBoer chose the right word to describe the Sharks clunker in Columbus: “fugly.”
The blowout to the Columbus Blue Jackets proved to be one of those games that rear themselves a handful of times during an 82-game season where you simply burn the tape and move on.
The Blue Jackets played with extra jump, skating with Matt Duchene on home ice for the first time. The Sharks lacked fire and energy. The combination produced a game that looked, well, we’ll just stick with the word that DeBoer used.
To make matters worse, Erik Karlsson left the game at 6:56 of the second, re-aggravating the groin injury that kept him out of the lineup for an entire month.
