SAN JOSE — Marcus Sorensen was given a little more responsibility by the Sharks coaching staff for Thursday’s game against the Vancouver Canucks. He responded with one of the most his memorable moments of his professional career.
Sorensen’s first career NHL goal in the second period turned out to be the winner at SAP Center as the Sharks beat the Canucks 3-1 for their third straight victory.
Mikkel Boedker also scored and Logan Couture had a goal and an assist as the Sharks extended their Pacific Division lead to seven points over the idle Edmonton Oilers.
The Canucks pulled goalie Ryan Miller inside the final two minutes, and the Sharks had chances to get Joe Thornton his 1,000th career assist.
