SAN JOSE – Joel Ward didn’t have to wait very long to return to the place he called home for four solid NHL seasons.
The 34-year-old forward, who signed with San Jose on July 3, will get a chance to skate on his former ice surface on Tuesday when the Sharks visit the Washington Capitals in what will be just their third game of the young season.
Ward, who became expendable to the Capitals after they acquired T.J. Oshie and Justin Williams, indicated he was glad to get the meeting out of the way early. He planned on seeing some former teammates after the game Tuesday, but not on Monday night, when he’ll presumably hang with his current teammates.
