EDMONTON – Darnell Nurse’s bloodying of Sharks defenseman Roman Polak late in San Jose’s 3-0 win on Tuesday night did not go over well in the visiting dressing room.
The Oilers defenseman, apparently taking issue with Polak’s interference penalty on Matt Hendricks a few minutes earlier, grabbed the San Jose blueliner as he was going off on a line change. Polak didn’t get a chance to drop his gloves before Nurse delivered a couple straight right hands to Polak’s face.
Oddly, Nurse wasn’t given an instigator on the play, although he did receive a fighting major and roughing minor.
