The Washington Capitals have acquired left-handed defender Brenden Dillon from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a 2020 second-round draft pick and a conditional third-round pick in 2021, the Sharks announced Tuesday. In the event that Washington wins the Stanley Cup in 2020, then the Sharks will receive Arizona’s third-round pick in 2020 instead.
The Sharks are retaining 50 percent of Dillon’s salary and cap hit, the Capitals reported. The Sharks had signed Dillon to a five-year contract extension on June 30, 2015. This is the last year of his deal.
