SAN JOSE — Joe Thornton and Logan Couture both took significant steps at Sharks practice on Monday, suggesting that both players could be in the lineup for Game 1 of their first-round Stanley Cup playoff series against the Edmonton Oilers on Wednesday.
But coach Pete DeBoer continues to insist that his top two centers are day-to-day and a decision about their statuses for Game 1 will be reached at game time.
Couture missed the last seven games of the regular season after taking a puck to the mouth on March 25 and Thornton was sidelined for the last three games after suffering a left-knee injury on April 2.
