SAN JOSE — In your run-of-the-mill NHL game, the starting goaltender leads the team onto the ice at the start. Saturday’s contest between the Sharks and the Ottawa Senators, however, was not your average matchup.
As the camera zoomed in at the entrance to the Sharks' dressing room, defenseman Brent Burns emerged in front of starting netminder Martin Jones. Next to Burns was his young son, Jagger, decked out in full Sharks uniform.
Metallica's “Seek and Destroy” began blaring over the PA system, and Burns and his son led the team in the ceremonial game-opening skate through the giant Sharks head, taking the ice to thunderous applause from the SAP Center crowd.
