Sharks’ Robinson among NHL’s 100 Greatest Players; Where’s Joe Thornton?

Sharks center Joe Thornton didn’t make the cut as the NHL on Friday announced its 100 Greatest Players at a ceremony in Los Angeles as part of the league’s all-star weekend.

Thornton is 24th in NHL history and is second among all active players with 1,372 points in 1,417 regular season games over 18-plus years.

Larry Robinson, who is in his third season as the Sharks’ director of player development, did make the list as the NHL announced the players, not by rank, but in groups by decade and according to their position. Robinson was announced as part of the group of 1970s defenseman.
