MONTREAL — Kevin Labanc was asked to assess how he played Thursday night in the Sharks’ 4-2 win over the Montreal Canadiens at Bell Centre.
“Not sure,” Labanc said with a wry smile. “What did Cooch say?”
Quite a bit, actually. Logan Couture, who didn’t pull punches about the way the Sharks’ lost in overtime Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres, liked how Labanc and the rest of his teammates competed as they improved to 4-1-1 overall after an 0-4-0 start.
Labanc scored a second period even strength goal and although though he didn’t get an assist on the play, had a small hand in Evander Kane’s power play goal with 55 seconds left in the first period that tied the game 1-1.
