On the heels of the Colorado Avalanche claiming Matt Nieto on waivers, the San Jose Sharks called up Tim Heed on Thursday. I expect him to make his NHL debut against the Minnesota Wild on Thursday night. If he does, Heed will be the fifth San Jose player to make his NHL debut this season (Timo Meier, Kevin Labanc, Aaron Dell and Danny O”Regan being the others).
Heed will wear No. 27. He has lit up the scoresheet with the the San Jose Barracuda, scoring nine goals and bagging 21 assists in 27 games. That 1.11 points per game mark in his first season North America is tied for third among AHL defenders with at least 20 games played and leads the Barracuda.
