SAN JOSE — A few minutes after the Sharks announced that they’d re-signed Joe Thornton, Tomas Hertl jumped on board.
Hertl signed a four-year contract with the Sharks Monday, a deal that ends his restricted free agency while eating up the first two years of his eligibility for unrestricted free agency. At this point, the terms of Hertl’s contract have not been made available.
After battling knee injuries throughout the first four years of his career, Hertl put together his best season last winter while suiting up for 79 of 82 games. The 24-year old missed three games with a right-hand injury unrelated to his knee issues.
