The Sharks still had a couple of players they wanted to sign to contracts after a busy first day of free agency on July 1. One week later, they are able to cross one of those name off of that long list of restricted free agents, announcing Monday morning that forward Kevin Labanc has been signed to a one-year deal.
"Kevin took a big step forward in his production last season and has grown into an important part of our team here in San Jose," Sharks general manager Doug Wilson said in a statement. "He's always had a dangerous shot but really stepped into a playmaking role for us last season and improved his 200-foot game as well.
