Sharks preseason: Three takeaways from Thursday’s loss to Calgary

SAN JOSE — Three quick takeaways from Thursday night at SAP Center, where the Sharks had some costly turnovers and didn’t get their legs moving until it was too late in what ended up as a 4-3 loss to the Calgary Flames.

1.The power play may take some time to gel, but it’ll get there: The Sharks were 0-for-4 on the power play against the Sharks, and allowed a shorthanded goal to Mark Giordano at the 11:30 mark of the first period. The Sharks were credited with one shot on goal in eight minutes of power play time — a Joe Thornton shot from near the right circle midway through the second period.
