SAN JOSE — With two open spots on the Sharks roster, the road from development camp to the NHL seems shorter than usual this summer. Will any prospects step forward and stamp a ticket to the show?
In the wake of the Sharks decision to cut ties with center Eric Fehr and defenseman Dylan DeMelo, skaters competing in Friday’s annual prospects scrimmage at SAP Center will have extra incentive to bring their best games to the rink.
Nevertheless, the chances of seeing anyone competing in Friday’s scrimmage on the Sharks opening night roster are quite slim. At this point, the inside lanes in the race to fill the vacancies belong to a pair of prospects who received exemptions from camp this summer.
