Sharks need patience with No. 60 draft pick

Barring a trade, the Sharks won’t make a first-day selection in the two-day NHL entry draft, which gets under way Friday in Buffalo.

But when San Jose does get around to picking 60th overall in the second round, exactly what type of player will the Western Conference champion get? How long does it typically take for that player to reach the NHL? And is it a guarantee he’ll some day help the Sharks?

“We’ve always tried to take the best player available while looking where the game is going and where it’s at,” general manager Doug Wilson said.
