NEWARK — The Sharks traveled out to the East Coast for their upcoming five-game road trip Wednesday with heavy hearts.
The team awoke to the news Wednesday morning that Gord Downie, the lead singer of the iconic Canadian rock band, the Tragically Hip, had passed away from glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer.
“Everyone knew it was going to come, but it’s still a tough day,” alternate captain Logan Couture said. “I got a text from my dad after he passed away. He was obviously very upset because he’s a massive fan.
“We were playing the Hip in the dressing room this morning.
