SAN JOSE – Wednesday’s opener against the Kings was a statement game for the Sharks if there ever was one. To a man, everyone in the dressing room throughout training camp, including new coach Peter DeBoer, said that there was no more looking in the rear view mirror.
A convincing 5-1 win over the Kings was the first step in showing that it wasn’t just lip service.
Still, DeBoer sees Saturday’s home opener vs. Anaheim – a popular preseason pick to become the next Stanley Cup champion – as another chance for the Sharks to speak loudly with their play.
