Reports from ESPN and Sportsnet emerged this week that the NHL is looking at completing the regular season in league cities like Edmonton and St. Paul, Minnesota, rather than neutral sites. Those games would likely have to be played in empty arenas.
“Ideally from our standpoint — and it would resolve a lot of issues — would be if we could complete the regular season, even if it’s on a centralized basis, and then go into the (Stanley Cup Playoffs) the way we normally play them,” NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman told Sportsnet on Wednesday.
