Sharks center Logan Couture, who was helped off the ice in St. Louis on Tuesday after an awkward collision into the boards, is believed to have suffered a broken left ankle, Pierre Lebrun of the Athletic and TSN, a Canadian sports site, tweeted Wednesday.
Couture, San Jose’s captain and leading scorer (36 points), was injured when he and St. Louis defenseman Vince Dunn hit the boards together in pursuit of the puck. Couture immediately fell to the ice clutching his leg and had to be helped to the San Jose dressing room.
“It’s big-time concerning,” Sharks head coach Bob Boughner said after the game.
