The Sharks open the Stanley Cup playoffs with the challenge of trying to contain the most dynamic young player in hockey, Edmonton’s Connor McDavid, without really knowing whom they have for the job.
The question of whether Joe Thornton, Logan Couture, both or neither will play Wednesday at the outset of the best-of-seven Western Conference first-round series will go right down to puck-drop time.
“They’re day to day. They’re on the ice. They’re skating,” Sharks head coach Peter DeBoer said. “We’ll see tomorrow. We’ll keep taking those steps. There’s no plan here.
