The Sharks had some fine moments before Thornton was fetched from the Boston Bruins during the 2005-06 season. But it was his arrival that ushered in the Age of Possibility for the Sharks. In the 58 games he played for the Sharks that season he accumulated 92 points (20 goals, 72 assists). Thornton’s genius was qualitative as well as quantitative. We’d seen nothing like it.
