SAN JOSE — Sharks Sports & Entertainment, operator of the Sharks Ice complex in San Jose, is eyeing a major expansion of the facility in a plan that would add new rinks, a spectator arena, lounge and other features, doubling the size of the existing municipal ice skating center.
Under the proposal from Sharks Sports, two new ice skating rinks, including a community and practice rink and a competition rink, would be added to the existing center, officially called Solar4America Ice at San Jose, although it’s often called Sharks Ice.
The competition rink would include a two-story spectator arena with up to 4,500 seats, plans filed with San Jose city staffers show.
