SAN JOSE — The Sharks reassigned Antti Suomela to the Barracuda on Tuesday, leaving the NHL club with just 12 forwards for the time being. A corresponding move was not announced, and it is unclear how long the Finnish-born centerman might stay in the American Hockey League.
Suomela, 24, has been a healthy scratch for the last two Sharks games as winger Lukas Radil, 28, entered the lineup. Radil had a goal in San Jose’s 5-3 win over Arizona on Saturday and had an assist in Monday’s 5-2 Sharks win over New Jersey.
Suomela, who was signed to a one-year contract by San Jose in June after he played professionally in Finland for three seasons, made the Sharks roster out of training camp and began the year as the team’s third line center.
