SAN JOSE — The Sharks hope to continue their overall success in afternoon games and keep Alex Ovechkin from reaching another major career milestone as they host the Washington Capitals in a rare matinée Saturday at SAP Center.
The Sharks are 3-1 in games this season where the local start time has been in the afternoon, most recently winning games against the Los Angeles Kings on Jan. 15 at Staples Center on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and on Feb. 4 against the Carolina Hurricanes on the fourth game of a six-game road trip.
Saturday’s game is the Sharks’ final scheduled matinée contest this season, as they look to firm up their grasp of second place in the Pacific Division.
