After a long season and a half, the NHL is looking forward to getting closer to a season that looks more like it did prior to the pandemic. Though the 2021-22 season will start a couple of weeks later than usual and includes a break in February to allow for participation in the 2022 Olympic Games, things seem to be on track for an 82-game season, where every team will play at least one home and road game against every other team.
The San Jose Sharks will open the season at home, hosting the Winnipeg Jets, as the expectation is that travel will be unrestricted by mid-October.
