That was a rough one, folks.
It’s not that the Sharks played particularly badly, but in one way or another, the Ducks’ defense or John Gibson was always there. A couple stupid goals and suddenly the game is out of reach.
The Sharks out-shot the Ducks 33-15, but just 7 shots in the third period didn’t give them a lot of opportunities to pull ahead in a tied game. Brandon Montour got lucky and that propelled the Ducks ahead when the Sharks got desperate.
At least Erik Karlsson looked good and Tomas Hertl ended Cam Fowler’s career.
