Marcus Johansson stuffed his second goal of the game past Toronto goalie Frederik Andersen at 6:31 of overtime, lifting the Washington Capitals to a series-winning 2-1 victory over the host Maple Leafs on Sunday night in Game 6 of an Eastern Conference first-round matchup.
It was the fifth overtime game of the series, and the margin of victory in the game that ended in regulation was one goal.
“It was a tough series,” Johansson said. “I’ve said it before, but a lot of credit to them. They gave us everything they had, and we had to work hard for it, and we had to stick with it for a long time.
