On Saturday, Santa Clara County issued new restrictions to try to limit the spread of COVID-19, as the county faces a rising number of cases. The majority of the Bay Area is now in the state’s purple tier, the most restrictive when it comes to re-opening, as the virus is considered widespread.
The new restrictions include a temporary ban on sporting events at every level, as well as a mandatory 14-day quarantine for anyone traveling to Santa Clara County from more than 150 miles away. Hotels and other facilities are to only remain open for “essential travel” or to provide quarantine and isolation spaces.
