San Jose Sharks’ season starts on sour note

LAS VEGAS — The Sharks allowed two goals in the first 5:21 of the opening period and never fully recovered in a 4-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights on Wednesday in the season-opening game for both teams.

Playing without both Evander Kane and Erik Karlsson, the Sharks gave up a power play goal to Mark Stone at 3:46 mark of the first period and an even-strength marker to Reilly Smith just 1:35 later as the Golden Knights scored twice on their first three shots.
