A lack of offense, a turnover in overtime and a couple of key injuries cost the Sharks on Tuesday night.
Tanner Pearson capped a 2-on-1 break with a game-winning goal 58 seconds into sudden death as the Kings beat the banged-up Sharks 2-1 at sold-out SAP Center.
Pearson drilled in Jeff Carter’s cross-ice feed with only defenseman Justin Braun back for the Sharks after San Jose’s Logan Couture committed a costly turnover in the visitors’ zone.
The come-from-behind win came on the heels of Los Angeles’ 3-2 win over San Jose on Saturday, enabling the rivals from the south to claw closer in the Pacific Division standings.
