San Jose Sharks fans knew that the inevitable was coming. They knew that longtime fan-favorite defenseman Brenden Dillon was going to be traded prior to the February 24th deadline.
But that didn’t make the pill any easier to swallow.
Dillon was officially shipped to the Washington Capitals on Tuesday in exchange for a 2020 second-round draft pick and a conditional third-rounder that could be in either 2020 or 2021.
The move was widely speculated to occur and it gives the Sharks some much-needed draft capital at a time when it’s at a premium.
