SAN JOSE — Kobe Bryant played his last NBA game on April 13, 2016, and the atmosphere around Staples Center that evening was boisterous, to say the least.
The Sharks couldn’t help but notice. In town to start their first round playoff series with the Los Angeles Kings the following night, the Sharks could hear everything that was going on from their team hotel a short distance away.

“Just the amount of cheers, I don’t think the Lakers were in the playoffs year,” Sharks defenseman Brenden Dillon said, “just cheering for him, knowing it was his last game.
